Eschatology or the Catholic Doctrine of the Last Things
A Dogmatic Treatise
Rev. Joseph Pohle Ph.D. D.D

PART II

ESCHATOLOGY OF THE HUMAN RACE

Parallel with the consummation of the individual runs the consummation of the human race, which will take place as soon as the predestined number is reached.

When “the last day” will come no one can tell. All calculations and speculations from St. Augustine to the present have merely confirmed our Blessed Saviour’s dictum that God alone knows the day and the hour when the Son of man will come to judge the living and the dead.

Following St. Augustine’s example we shall consider, (1) the Signs that are to Precede the General Judgment, (2) the Resurrection of the Flesh, and (3) the Last Judgment.
