A History Of The Mass And Its Ceremonies In The Eastern And Western Church -Rev John O'Brien A.M.

FOR the valid consecration of the Holy Eucharist bread made of wheat (panis triticeus), and no other, must be employed. According to the discipline of the Latin Church, this bread must be unleavened, must have nothing tempering or mixing it but water, and must be baked after the manner of ordinary bread, and not stewed, fried, or boiled.
