Spotlight on the Saints – St. Mark
Spotlight On The Saints |
In this Issue, we honor the patron saint of notaries.
St. Mark
Evangelist, and patron saint of notaries
April 25th.
Scripture Scholars popularly believe St. Mark was the first of the Gospel writers. His gospel was written between 60-90 A.D. His writings are unique in that both St. Luke and St. Matthew use much of the material found in Mark’s Gospel. It is also believed that Mark was the same John Mark, found in the Acts of the Apostles and who accompanied St. Paul and St. Barnabas on a missionary journey to Cyprus. He was also a cousin of St. Barnabas.
His writings are marked with passages in which the Messiahship of Christ is hidden, but whenever Jesus performs a miracle, those healed cannot help but to shout it out to the world. It is beleived he founded the Church at Alexandria.
Prayer: Jesus, you lived and died for us. By the intercession and merits of St. Mark, let us strive to proclaim the ‘Good News’ to everyone we meet in countless and varied ways. Amen
